VAJDAHUNYAD CASTLE

This castle standing on the City Park Lake was originally constructed from wood and cardboard for the Millennium celebrations. The castle was built to present the thousand-year history of Hungarian architecture to the public: from the Romanesque through the Gothic and Renaissance up to the Baroque. When it was opened to the public the huge model was such a success that it was later reconstructed in stone. Today it is home to the Hungarian Museum of Agriculture. Its side facing the lake resembles the original Vajdahunyad Castle in Transylvania.
